It was my 2nd favorite show last year behind The Leftovers Season 2. I hope they didn't shoot their wad, though. They clearly had a complete story and ending for Season 1. I doubt they expected to get picked up for Season 2, so I don't know how much they have left in the tank. It's like a band that writes and plays music for 10 years, gets signed, puts out an album of their best songs that they've been playing forever, it's a hit, and they have to go write a whole other album--this time, though, in only 6 months. While touring. So, oftentimes their sophomore albums disappoint.
Or like True Detective. Dude threw everything he had into Season 1, both ideas and soul. Seemed like season 2 was too quick a turnaround for him to duplicate it. Though I actually am in the minority in having liked Season 2 (and the finale for season 1).
Anyway, I'm excited, but cautiously optimistic to see where Mr. Robot goes from here.

The show was originally planned as a movie or series of movies until Esmail realized he had too much material so it wound up being a show. The end of season 1 is supposedly the end of the first 1/3 or so it. They always intended on it being several seasons so I'm sure the story will reflect that. True Detective was nothing like that.
Great choice imo, we'll see if they can maintain the quality going forward. Season 1 came out with a bang, so if it's just close to that it'll be better than most everything on tv today.

So I'm on episode 5 of season 1. I spoke with a The Director of Network Engineering where I work in DC about this show. He said he has only watched a few episodes but he said the show isn't as believable as itd have you believe.
Apparently the systems in a secure environment are never as interconnected as they'd have you believe. Apparently the trend is to have each part fragmented and the biggest vulnerability for any network isn't the node but actually client phones that can access the network. If you were to exploit a vulnerability into a secure network that'd be the place to do it.
I'm not a techie and I'm probably screwed his explanation but that's the FYI. Still a good show thus far but chances of it lining up like it has so far is improbable.

Hey man. I'm just relaying what I was told. Damn. I thought I was contributing.

Ok on episode 5 where the guard is picking up the USB is legit. There are cyber security departments that drop USBs in company parking lots and monitor who plugs them in. Apparently the number is high and those who do get busted at work. Depending on where they work, they get terminated.

Yea, they have done a show on USA network with people in the cyber security career field discussing it. I haven't watched it yet because I have 1 episode left, but I'm sure there are plenty of truths but also some stretches like most shows

Good input. It's nice to hear how realistic a show like this is. It's still a hell of a lot closer to reality than most "hacker" situations on TV.

Apparently they got "hacked" and posted the episode on social media for a little bit. Great advertising/marketing.
I watched the episode on kodi last night. Show is so weird haha. But I love it

They're usually separated into what are called VLANS, which is often a logical separation of network segments, and often not a physical separation. However, there are times when physical separation is required, such as servers that sit in a DMZ (a server that is open to the internet, for example).
Believe it or not the easiest way to exploit a reasonably secured network these days is via social engineering and spear phishing e-mail campaigns. You can have every protection known to man on your network, but if an attacker can convince one user to perform some action that gives the attacker network access, all bets are off. Thankfully behavior based endpoint protection software has made serious strides in the past few years.

Got up to speed on S1, S2 in.
Good characters, it's almost like movie actor Christian Slater is playing Christian Slater, the True Romance version.
The lead character and his drug use, ADHD, hallucinations, to talk to the audience is done pretty well.
S1 Spoiler questions
...
...
So is everyone in the group not real?
I'm left thinking only his sister is real and I kinda doubt that.
Does everyone think he killed that guy?

SPOILERS
Pretty sure his dad was the only one not real, it's like he has split/multiple personality disorder and his dad is the other personality.

In. About time. I'm REALLY hoping USA doesn't screw this up....really REALLY hoping...they don't have the greatest track record from my perspective.

You're probably right. It's hard to see him putting a gun to that black dudes head, killing a guy, being the mastermind/leader, and ripping into his hacker friends, but maybe S2 will shed some light on his character. So far he just comes off as a loner, hacker with issues.

Just watched the leak of episode 1 part 1. All I will say is frick YES!!!
Did you know?
On 7/10/16 during a live Q&A on Facebook, the screen cut to black and a masked man appeared to introduce what would be the first half of the season 2 premiere. The video was only available for a few hours.
^from imdb.

Season 1 was amazing
It was really underwhelming at the end. Especially if you've seen fight club, its basically the same ending
Hopefully sets up for a good season 2, which is what im expecting
and lol at mr robot beating game of thrones. what a joke

Just finished episode 9. I enjoy it because it's weird (reminds me of several different shows/movies combined). Trying to catch up in time for tonight.
