Completely dependent on what they are farming and the farms themselves. Many, if not most, small/medium farmers get nothing from the government directly. Only some tax breaks, depending on what they are farming.
Corporate farms are a whole other matter.

In the Southeast there really are no more direct cash payments that amount to anything. The biggest benefit is the crop insurance premium which is heavily subsidized. But if I am getting say $100000 in benefits back but I am paying $200000 in income tax. It is not a net drain on the system like say the earned income tax credit.
