I love Santi but he can not play out wide. He doesn't have the legs anymore. I also would rather a worker(Elneny or Ramsey) next to Xhaka. Xhaka can make a tackle and is solid positionally but he is never going to cover that much ground. Finding a good balance is very important.

There will not be another signing and all other clubs love dangling a carrot in front of AW simply to watch him jump.

That balance worked before. I'm just saying, that's what we got. No one else is walking through that door.
But against teams that will sit back, we don't need two holding midfielders.
Ramsey would make those runs anyway, but flamini or arteta wasnt cutting it covering the back 4.
