2016 preseason needs for 2017:
1st DE
2nd CB
3rd OG
4th WR/TE
6th K
7th WR/TE
between Rankins, Davison, Onyemata, and Richardson along with Fairley and Jenkins on contract deals DT looks fine to me at the moment. If either latter excels they will be resigned abruptly.
LB with Anthony, Ellerbe, JL, Robertson, and Stupar is underwhelming in star power but solid in potential.

Don't worry. They won't draft any LSU players.

How do you know the needs for next year when we haven't even hit camp for this season yet much less a game?
Posted on 6/28/16 at 9:56 am to Midget Death Squad
We are only picking the needs for THIS YEAR.... that they DIDNT address in THIS draft or free agency.
Not complicated

Just like all of dillingman's threads. Is there a way to filter out threads started by one specific poster?

"With the 6th pick of the 2017 draft, the New Orleans Saints select..."

Draft the best player available when you have a lot of needs.

Perhaps throw caution to the winds and draft BPA even when needs are few?

quote:In Denver's case, this has worked in recent years. Shane Ray and Bradley Roby have both been drafted at or towards the end of the first round when the need wasn't entirely there. Chris Harris and Aqib Talib were at cornerback, Demarcus Ware and Von Miller at rush linebacker. It helped mold Denver has having the best positional groups at both position.

Drafting the best player available can work in both cases.
If I'm New Orleans, I draft offensive line and continue to mold the offense towards a more run heavy approach. Drew Brees won't be slinging it around forever, and both he and a future quarterback need to be kept upright.
