Can you rescend an offer?

How does it work when LSU makes an offer to a kid, but then fills up at that position? Do they rescend the offer? What happens if 25 kids commit and a 5 star decides on like signing day he wants to come to lsu? How do adjust? Could somebody like Moffitt's kid decide to "walk on" to free up a scholarship?

If it's a highly rated player on their board.. They'll find a way to make it work. It's a business

The coaches can pull an offer but will look like assholes. They did it to that DT from Denham Springs a couple years ago so they could take Tashawn Bower

you are opening up a can of worms man.
the skinny: if LSU adjusts and finds room for the new 5 star guy, it's OK. if Saban does it, it's evil. processing, ruining kids lives, etc
i'm sure that there are some "hardball" being played. it's the nature of the beast at the top level schools.

Happens all the time. Kevin Henry, Chuck Baker, Chris Hardeman

This is why they are so reluctant to offer instate early. If this situation occurs and they have to pull an offer because the position fills up, they don't want to piss off instate coaches.

Pretty sure you find someone who will take a greyshirt to open up a spot. Basically they can sign but they pay their own way the first year...I think.
Isn't that what happened with Elliot Porter?

Finding a guy that is willing to greyshirt is pretty hard. They asked Elliot Porter to do it and he got pissed and went to Kentucky. He eventually transferred back to LSU and said he should have taken the greyshirt

No issue doing it with enough time..
My issue is when coaches do it NSD week.. Just like I hate when a kid decommits on NSD without any notice to a coaching staff..

Not trying to open a can of worms, just know we have some good instate WR talent (idk if we offered them yet) and it's looking like after the 2 commits this weekend and Guidry we'really full at WR for this class and in general!

It was done last year in a more subtle way. The staff just quit talking to Clifford chattman so he decommited.

I was thinking Chapman from last year as well. He wasn't going to get PT. wasn't fast enough to play safety and didn't have weight for OLB. He didn't do what the coaches asked him to do and add the weight.

This is essentially what happened with Cliff Chattman last year. They offer him as a high upside guy then find out he sucks. It is just best to let they player know as soon as possible and not on NSD.

It happens and it sucks, but also recruits lie to coaches which is really shitty because someother recruit might get left out until late because the coaching staff thought the position would be full. But a few years back the NCAA started a program where the recruit signs finical papers that make it so the school can't pull his offer, and in return they can talk to the recruit during dead periods and other benefits.

Until that recruit signs with Alabama, and then it's a violation in the end.

Harbaugh does it alot you can't just flat out do it you have to get creative but regardless it leaves a bad image when it goes public

Stanford has done it to several kids in Texas and Louisiana. They offer, then blame it on the kid not making good enough grades to get into Stanford. C'mon man, you knew what his grades were before you offered.
