Or are we in different times?

In one year? He wouldn't have needed to do anything. Ben was NBA ready the day he stepped on campus.

The same as JJ or my 2 year old.

Too late !!! You should have done this thread yesterday. Today LSU message board fans hate Tim Quarterman and not Ben.
All this crap talking about coaches and players and they will be pissed when the recruiting class doesn't meet their high expectations.

Motivated the hell out of him and taught him a little Freak Defense.

Well judging by what he did with shaq he would probably have him guard Oliver Miller at the 3pt line opening up the lane over and over and get beat. Only topping his tremendous coaching ability by doing it the next game against Ark. showing he never realized what a dumb decision it was the first time.

We have already seen what Dale Brown could have done with Simmons. He just went under the surname of Johnny Jones.

hell, what could I have done?
he'd be able to hit an open jumper off the dribble from 8 to 18 feet like it was a walk in the park.
he'd be able to hit the 3 point shot from the corner.
he'd be able to hit an 8 to 10 foot jump hook in the lane off the bounce.
I guarantee it because he would not have got on the floor in practice until he hit 2 in a row of each of them. the team would be practicing without him while he tried to do it. that's all three shots, two in a row, before he could join the team each day in practice.
hit the medium range jumper.
sprint to the corner. receive a pass, shoot.
move toward the lane, receiving a pass on the move. slow down and hit the hook.
over and over until he had hit all three twice in a row.

He has no issues hitting those shots in practice
Tell me more about how Simmons is going to slide in the draft

He would have taken him to the big dance

He would have had the team much more motivated to play all year. Probably had much better set plays (not saying much) and called the occasional timeout.

He'd have gotten Simmons to laugh a little, lighten up some.
Ben wouldn't have been the ultra-professional robot, he'd have had a little fun out there. Dale would have had him doing things he wanted to do... if he wanted to pass, Dale might challenge him to get something like 15 assists a couple of times. Alley oops to Darcy, things like that.
"Ben, you're the man running the show, I want you to get Darcy into double figures this game." Just stuff that relaxes the superstar, and the entire team.

Boom. This. Kid would have probably wanted to come back to LSU and win a title, but Dale wouldn't let him.

This.^^^^
It's amazing how little respect Dale gets from LSU "fans."
15 NCAA tournament appearance, including 10 in a row. 2 Final Fours, 2 Elite Eights, and a Sweet Sixteen. 4 SEC regular season titles, and 4 time SEC Coach of the Year (as well as 5x runner-up). 2 time National Coach of the Year.
And all this at a school that had been there only twice in its history before he arrived.
This place is full of morons.
