But, CNN and the Dems told me these laws prevent mass shootings?!?
This is, what, the third mass shooting in over 15 years? Sounds like their laws are working.
Compare per capita...I'm curious. I really don't know what it is.
And also, are mass shootings in America counting gang violence? Those people aren't just going to throw away their guns if we made new laws.

When analyzing gun violence in the US the homicide rate can be diminished rather quickly by changing a few markers, none of those markers have anything to do with gun control laws either.
Gun control can't have anything to do with self-inflicted gun shots? How do you figure? Also, you're just going to dismiss the fact that even if you take out suicides we still (according to you) have 3x the gun death rate? That's still a huge disparity.
Listen, I'm not saying we should do exactly like the Germans. That would be silly. They are two vastly different countries. But people making these pithy comments about how their gun control laws don't work and any measure of gun control is inherently bad because of this one incident are being disingenuous at the very best.

The masked man entered a multiplex cinema in the small town just north of Mannheim. Focus is reporting he was armed only with a blank firing gun.

For the record the gun homicide rate in the US is actually closer to 5x that of Germany's based on 2012 and 2014 data. Can't find anything more recently.

Hessischer Rundfunk is reporting on information from the interior ministry in Hesse that the gunman is now dead. Bild reports that police fatally wounded him through gunfire.
Sounds like someone with grandiose delusions

If someone is going to kill themselves, does it really matter if you take the gun away?

It will be whether we have gun control or not. It's a vastly different nation.

OK, let's eliminate suicides. Our gun homicide rate is still ~5 times Germany's.

Honestly, if they had our demographics, as racist as that sounds, it would be similar IMO.

And I've said as such. And I've said I don't advocate us wholesale taking on gun policies of nations like Germany. My only point is refuting this notion that Germany's policies don't work because of this incident.

So are you though. Really, what do you think would happen? You think people will willingly give up their guns?
We can not compare the US to how shite works in Europe. WW2 changed everything over there. Like social healthcare, they were starting from scratch.

Oh I'm not saying we don't have a problem with guns.
That being said, I don't know how people want to deal with the problem of guns. Taking away a constitutionally given civil right is pretty damn hard for me, and by it's nature mental illness is pretty unpredictable. A guy who is bi-polar can take his meds and be completely find, and go psycho if/when he doesn't. Also, even though hate groups disgust me, not allowing someone to purchase a weapon based on that would probably violate the 1st amendment too.

I'm a huge gun advocate, but the 2012 and 2014 figures I'm seeing are not even close to 5x.

When has prohibition worked in this country?
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I was illustrating that Germany's gun policies work FOR THEM. I've already said you can't really compare the two nations. Please stop trying to put arguments in my mouth.

has there been a noticeable drop in violent crime after the gun policies were passed?
