With his size and speed almost impossible not to give him a shot.

Dupre cloned himself? SEC is fricked.

Not sure why so many people say things like "No way"
Patrick Peterson eventually became a starter his freshman year. I recognize depth can contribute to this, but it's not like our receivers were setting the world on fire.. regardless what they were ranked coming out of HS.
Drake Davis has elite level type of talent. I truly hope they find a way to utilize him day one. No one said he was starting over the top 2 receivers.. but it's not impossible he ends up starting over any of the others.. even a guy like Johnson who is only 1 year up on him. It's not like he's some huge vet. Drake Davis is a potential game breaker.. and it would be somewhat disappointing not to utilize him.. even as a freshman.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he was starting at the #3 mid season. I just wouldn't put my money on it.
He is definitely an athletic freak. It all depends on how polished he is.
You have Xavier carter (6'3 all world track) then you have Jarvis Landry (5'11 below average combine). It's takes toughness and skill to be effective not just raw athleticism.
Now I'll admit I have no idea how ready drake is, I hope he's pretty far along. But until he learns the playbook, learns how to run block SEC DBs, learns how to beat the press, and learns how to disguise his routes to where he can hit any without telegraphing he won't start with all the guys we have.
We'll see where he's at. If not this year I expect him to be big for us In the future

His measurables are off the charts, that's not the concern with him. He has issues actually catching the ball. Regardless of what he does at LSU, some NFL team will draft him because of the measurables.

Hearing that Drake Davis will be a starter in 3 wide receiver sets before end of year and future first round pick.
Let me guess...... you have his double secret insider feeding you all the scoop?
Who around here doesn't?

A third receiver is like a warm body on the field for a Les Miles offense. It doesn't matter who starts

This has definitely been true a fair amount under miles, especially recently. There are exceptions though when we have the talent
05: doucet, green, and Brazil all had good production as 3-5 wideouts
06: bowe-davis-doucet all had over 750 yards
07: Lafell-Byrd-doucet all had over 500 yards
08: tolliver caught 22 balls as the third WR
09: only 2 productive wideouts
10: Shepard caught 33 balls as third WR, he only averaged 7 per though so almost like runs.
As much talent as we've had since then it's been too spread out. Randal was a Jr. when Odell and Jarvis (injured in fall camp) got here in 11 as FR.
Odell and Jarvis were so good guys like wright and Boone weren't good enough to take catches from them. Shepard was unreliable as a true wideout. None of those guys were like the #3s in 05-08/9
We are back to the depth and class distribution of talent of 05-08 at wideout. I think there is a chance we can spread the ball the next few years.
Just look at these names compared to what Odell and Jarvis had backing them up:
-Chark
-Ferguson
-Johnson
-Anderson
-Davis
-Sullivan

Don't see it happening but got to get the best players in the field

If they are healthy, Dupre and Dural will be far and away more productive than whoever is 3rd.

He has the immense talent to do so and on a ton of FBS football teams he would be a day one starter.
It's not like young guys don't pass up people all the time. I mean look at Toliver for corner, or Teuhema for guard, or Key for DE, etc. Jeremy Hill passed up Ware, Ford, Hilliard, and Magee to lead the team in rushing in 2012.
I heard he's a better route runner than people give him credit for as well. Taking that year with IMG definitely helped him out. I know we are pretty stacked with talent there, but I wouldn't count him out of being a big contributer later on in the year.

I agree.
I think this year we see a lot more impact out of the #3 than we have in a while though
And next year a lot of guys will be involved

I doubt he passes anyone up completely, but I would be shocked if he didn't get significant playing time this year.
Give him some time, no doubt he's going to be a stud.
