Based on equal rights then yes the draft should be open to all people. That being said, they don't have to draft people into combat roles.

There are plenty of non combat support roles that women and less able bodied people could fill.

This.

I don't have an issue with it personally.

Why aren't women required to register within the next 12 months or face the same denial of federal student loans,etc... as men?

It's not about equality, it's preferential treatment. And it sure as hell isnt about a more lethal military. Easier PT test. Different grooming standards. Ridiculous sexual harassment procedures. No repercussions for the traditional pre-deployment surge of pregnancies. Thank goodness I'm coming off the line for a few years.

The smallest guy in the squad always humps the SAW and some ammo. Most women are vicious killers. She'll be fine.

We, the United States of America, have the most advanced military in the history of civilization. No, I don't want women to be drafted.

Draft'em! There are positions for women. Although ever person is trained for front line combat during basic (my experience in the Army) no woman would serve in those positions if they chose not to.

Women are fighting for equal rights so this is only right.

The need for people is modified at all times based on the needs. Adjustments for female positions would be the norm.

When you institute the draft for women and have the SOD order that they be integrated into combat right away, I do not believe choosing to opt out of combat is an option. If it is, like most of the other pc stuff, it is a sham.

Bottom line... if women are clear for combat roles, then the military says women are fit for front-line combat. No citizen fit for combat should be exempt from the draft, regardless of gender.

If that is not the case, then these leaders need to explain why. They won't be able to.

It's time to put Heather on the front line, in accordance with the orders of the Commander-in-Chief. I, for one, am glad this systematic discrimination against females is coming to an end. It's time to give them the opportunity to enjoy the horrors of war firsthand.

As the father of a 7 year old girl I'm for it. The chance of us having a draft for a "normal" war is slim to none, and if a draft is ever called for I would imagine the world as a whole is screwed anyways.

What about "women" born before January 1, 2018 that are gender-confused and transition into being men?

My wife believes women should be subject to the draft if they can fight on the front lines. She's about as feminist as they come without being totally unbearable and militant.

You want to say women can fight? Well, then fight.

We didn't have the most powerful, most technologically advanced, and most well financed military in the world back then. We do today. The idea of the selective service is outdated and not something that a "free" society should have.

The OP asked for our opinion of a draft that also included women. I answered with my opinion that I think a draft could include women because contrary to the argument of women not being physically capable to perform combat operations there are actual jobs in the military that any woman could fulfill.

You've gotta be fricking kidding me!!!!!!

Just because a few feminists that can't get fricked want pretty women to have to suffer with them doesn't mean they need to.
If a woman wants to join the service, that's fine. Let it be voluntary.

I wish these fricking libs would quit trying to use the military as a sociology lab.

This might be the dumbest argument I've ever heard on the draft. In times of war even the farmer is a rifleman. Just ask the colonists in the American Revolution. Hell, I have a friend from high school who was Korean and he had to go back to Korea for 2 years after he graduated to serve in the Army.

On a somewhat related topic, do trans people sign up and un-sign up for Selective Service based on their presumed gender, or does it require surgery or what?

I don't have a problem with this. However, I do think women who are drafted are probably more suited to administrative or medical roles.
