So owning a gun would stop someone from breaking in?
How often do people that are looking to rob you kick the door in and bull rush in? I'd bet it's a small number. Most of the time you get ribbed when you're not home.

If they know or think you won't be an easy target, yes.
And if they do you have the equalizer. The thing that will give a 90 lb woman a fighting chance. Or at least scare the intruder into running away.
No point in having a gun if you aren't prepared to use it.
