Quote from Jimmy Ott just now with Skip. I know an Ott quote won't get much play on TD but I agree with the assessment. He essentially took a team that lost 8 starters (one of which was a top 3 pick) and turned them into a Top 8 team going into the postseason. Not the outcome we all wanted but he got a lot out of this team.

A quote from Skip holds more weight...He said "Paul maxed out with this team".

I largely agree, but there are some issues with this team that should not have been endimic no matter what level of talent is on the roster. There is simply no excuse for the constant shitty baserunning, and leaving in too long of pitchers, imo.

Shitty baserunning, more than anything else, cost LSU this super regional.

Looking back I'm really disappointed with our regional and super regional play, but I tend to agree. Through the first couple of SEC series I didn't know if we'd make the SEC tournament let alone become a national seed. Paul deserves a lot of respect for what he done with this team throughout the year although the last 2 weeks may have left a bad taste in my mouth

Overall I agree even though we tightened up at the end. But the draft revealed where we are currently.

I just can understand why we seem to not be able to develop a reliable third starter.

Well our first starter couldn't win this week so in the end it didn't matter much.

We still had more talent and should have beaten coastal carolina.

In 2 games we led for a total of 5 innings

My thoughts as well, but I've come to expect that Paul's teams play average to below average baseball in post season play outside of the SEC tournament.

Based on what? Because we are LSU and they are CCU?

I agree, I thought he did as much as he could have. It sucks to be done, but it was a good season. Congrats LSU baseball.

Totally agree with this. Every wrong move ( and there were some) was magnified because talent couldn't make up for it. Good season ,lots of thrills def exceeded my expectations..

Based on recruiting classes,us being a national seed, vegas. Do i need to continue?

They didnt even win the Big South conference regular season or tourney title.come on.

While yes its baseball its unacceptable for a national seed to barely be competitive against a team that couldnt win the big south conf or conf tourney.

Team definitely overachieved. Can't be mad at the season considering I thought going on the road as a #2 seed in a regional would be good enough for this team. They surpassed all my expectations. I don't think they're super talented particularly in the hitting. Should be a really good team next year depending on who we lose to the draft.

What a hilariously lazy analysis. Coastal is every bit as good as LSU and other top SEC teams.

I think similiar to the 08 run. Now I think expectations will be high like 09. Hope they come thru. If we don't make the CWS next year I think you have to be dissapointed with that if you get Poche back and only lose Fraley.
