That rotation is considerably better than last year's Royals if we are limiting this to starting pitching.

then you have

Ventura, Chris Young and Edinson Volquez

Buehrle Garcia and El Duque all had really solid careers

All those guys had some points in their careers where they were pretty solid. What were their stats for 2005?

Didnt Contreras throw heat then hurt his shoulder?

Was a Yankee originally after defecting?

El Duque was money in post season I believe.

Buehrle was a Cy Young candidate that year and had a 3.12 ERA. Garcia Garland and Contreras all had really solid years too.

OP also clearly didn't watch the 05 playoffs because I'm pretty sure the White Sox set some sort of record for complete games in the postseason after the playoffs expanded

They had 4 guys throw 200+ innings in 05 (Buehrle, Garcia, Contreras and Garland)

Dude that White Sox rotation was good. Most those guys (most notably Buehrle) has very solid careers.

Buehrle was the best stat wise. Do you actually watch and follow baseball?

They won that World Series due to their ridiculous starting pitching. They had something like four consecutive complete games against the Angels in the ALDS. The worst starting rotation to win a World Series was probably the 1993 Blue Jays. Guzman and Hentgen were their only above average starters and they were barely above average at that. Morris and Stewart were in the twilight of their careers and ineffective while Stottlemyre was mediocre at best. Of course none of that ended up mattering because they had the top 3 hitters in the AL for batting average along with a tremendous bullpen.

Lackey, Ramon Ortiz, Aaron Sele, Kevin Appier, Jarrod Washburn. That's definitely the winner in modern times

The '01 DBacks could have my mom, my sister, and my grandmother as their other three starters. Their ineffectiveness would be cancelled out by the awesomeness of '01 Schilling and Unit.

'02 Angels is a pretty good answer. Woof
