Grabbing teenage prospects from other teams and putting them into your own reserves makes the game more realistic to me.
basically the best way to cheat and ensure you have the best team in time. on one of my old 13 careers i had like 6 of the top 8 players in the entire game

I just don't like relying the random generated youth players that much
This is definitely the terrible part about it.
I typically have my youth side full at almost all times and won't keep any prospects that aren't at least projected to be an 84-88 overall. Whenever I promote them to the senior side, if they're below a 74 overall, I'll send them to FC Dallas and just monitor them for 2-3 seasons and about a quarter of the players I send over there will end up being a mid-80's overall player at some point and it since they're in MLS, the other European league teams don't buy them.
Very rarely do I find the regen player that's really worth it. I typically will only find the Ibra and Ronaldo regens. I have some Swedish 19-year-old striker, who I can only assume is Ibra's regen, and he's 6'1 with all 95+ running stats and he's an 86 overall.
I feel like I never have much success just sniping lower overall prospects.

Well, you've gotta set some house rules on yourself if you're going to play with a big team. Otherwise you can buy a dominant team with no problem.
Go after what you think you need and get a realistic number. Just don't stockpile the Tielemans and the Embolos.

But can you come on as a sub in career mode? That's all I ask for. You either start the game or you sit out. Can't be that hard to add that feature to make the game more realistic.

my point still stands, gotta try to be somewhat realistic with your buys

Y'all ready for some career mode updates? Here.
Don't know if this means training or scouting will be improved at all, but hey. This is going to add some variety to games. Goals will be different depending on who you're managing. That should add more realism to how teams user teams turn out and, maybe, how AI teams are built.
It's an update. It might not be worth it, but they at least touched career mode this year, which a lot of people were worried about.
Here are some screens:

EA Sports has just revealed the career mode features for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of FIFA 17, that give you even greater control over your club's season, the option to compete in the J-League, and your fully rendered manager avatar roaming the sideline.
Total Club Management
Total Club Management gives you new objectives to fulfill based upon your board's priorities. Each team now has a unique personality which dictates the goals you'll need to achieve in both the short and long term to succeed at your club.
Your board's expectations fall into five categories:
Domestic Success
Continental Success
Brand Exposure
Financial
Youth Development
Promote youth players, return to the top division, expand your club's brand in Asia, sign world class players - these are just some examples of the objectives you can expect in Career Mode in FIFA 17.
You'll be able to see your progress on these objectives from a new menu within Career Mode. Achieve the goals to keep your managerial popularity rating on target.
Whether you're returning a fallen giant to their former glory, turning your team into a European powerhouse with the help of a world-class youth program, or keeping your club's finances in the black, Total Club Management keeps your career experience fresh and dynamic season by season.
Financial System
FIFA 17 Career Mode introduces Club Worth, a rewritten and authentic club financial system with different sources of income and expense. You'll now be able to see a detailed breakdown of your income from transfers, loans, match-day revenue, media and merchandising, while your outgoings on player and scout wages, youth facilities, stadium maintenance and travel will also be visible to you in the Finances menu. This will help you keep your finances in check, a must for every modern football club.
Managers
Powered by Frostbite™ for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, managers are brought to life on the touchline for the first time in Career Mode. You'll be able to choose one of 11 high-res coaches to occupy the technical area which you'll then see during gameplay.

Ya, its something, but sounds laregly cosmetic. I mean, it doesnt sound like they give you any control over expenses outside of transfers, but it would be cool if you could adjust ticket prices, stadium/facility upgrades, etc. Think they would have mentioned that if the player had more control over their club.
Most this just looks like more ways to let you know you better start winning.

Last year sucked. Wonder if this year will suck.

Got an invite for the closed beta. Starts on the 18th.

Can you not take a pic of your face and build an avatar of yourself like before? Just seems odd they make you pick from 11 managers like that
Posted on 8/12/16 at 4:31 pm to WarSlamEagle
That's cool if you get a manager rating.

they got to test drive career mode over at futhead, with a pretty detailed breakdown.
sounds like a bummer.

Now, unfortunately Career Mode friends, it's probably easier to talk about things that haven't changed, compared to the things that have. Buckle up.

Welp. At least there were some changes, which were more than I was originally expecting on a new engine.

This game is going to suck and I'm going to still buy it at some point
Posted on 8/13/16 at 8:31 am to hendersonshands
About a 99% chance that I'll continue to bitch about manager mode and then go pick it up day one.

frick FIFA and this window dressing bullshite
Posted on 8/13/16 at 3:06 pm to McCaigBro69
Yup.
I'm actually fine with manager mode other than the transfer market TBH, I just wish the AI was better and teams had differing strategies. Either way I'll sink 90% of my video gaming into this game
