Ned was a solid leader, but that doesn't really speak to his combat ability.

Ever mentioned seems like Arthur Dayne
Presently kicking arse seems like Brienne has the most notches on her belt.

I'm not saying Brienne is absolutely the best, just that she's shown the most.

Well judging by how their fight went in front of Littlefinger's brothel it seemed to be pretty evenly matched. With Ned seeming to take the upper hand before he was stabbed from behind.

Brienne hasn't lost a straight up fight.

She is a lot like Ser Dunk the Tall in that regard.

As I said, I'm standing by the Hound.

The Hound would've beat her had he not been drunk off his arse and sick. Even then, he still damn near beat her.

Yes, because there's so much evidence to support that from the show.

His 2 mins of screen time were from 20+ years ago and include him getting wounded by Ser Dayne (no shame in that) and then sneaking up behind Dayne and stabbing him while he fought Ned at ToJ.

Who was in shackles, no armor, and covered in mud and at least a year's? worth of his own piss and shite and hadn't eaten s proper meal in the same amount of time.

Not taking anything away from Brienne, but she didn't catch Jamie, the Hound, or Stannis at their best. Which all that really matters is that she walked away.

Still the show portrays her as one bad bitch.

Yeah, how convient for Brienne's noteworthy opponents they were handicapped.

What is Loras's excuse for losing to Big Brienne?

He survived the War of the Usurper and lived to be old man by Westerosi standards. That speaks to his ability IMO. We're it not for being out numbered by Jamie and Lannister soldiers, yet still holding his own until stabbed in the leg with a spear by a Lannister soldier as he squared of against a top 3 swordsman, member of the KG, who was half his age.

Renly had sucked all the energy out of him before the tournament. Like Mic told Rocky, sex before a fight makes you weak.

That is her only legitimate victory.

All of that I agree with, except for Jaime being half Ned's age. In reality (lulz) Jaime is only like 3 years younger than Ned and Robert.

Hell Brandon Stark (Ned's brother) was only a year older than Ned.

If you go by the book standards Ned is not going to beat Jaime 1v1. Jaime is 100% considered one of the best 4-5 knights in the realm at that time.

Literally no one in universe has ever said Ned is a top tier fighter. He is a good fighter and good person, but if you go by the books.... he is not going to beat Jaime straight up.

Thanks for the info. I guess that makes sense with him being the oldest son of Tywin. Just seems like he would be in his 20s while Ned would be in his 40s. But both fought in the WotU and Jamie was a KG for the Mad King, so I should have put a little more thought into that point.

Yeah keep in mind Robert and Ned are teenagers/early twenties when they rebel. They were young as shite to pull that off.

Why are you still hanging out on the Hodor thread? You might as well just come on over to the readers' thread. That Hodor thread is an abortion.
