No. Didn't this happen to LSU last year or the year before? They were undefeated into the final, lost to a 1 loss team, and that was it?

This is the way it was done prior to the conference expansion, IIRC. Ten teams is a a lot, considering only 7 SEC teams are legitimate tournament contenders this year.
Teams like LSU that don't get the bye and go into the semi undefeated get doubly-screwed if they lose. It's a dumb system. They could budget for four games on Saturday. That's how it is on the earlier tournament days.

They need to make it where only 8 teams go to the sec tournament. If your not in the top 8 you don't deserve to go. This would make it the standard bracket.
