re: If you don't appreciate Lebron James, you hate sports

the irony of the MJ/LBJ stuff is that MJ was utterly beloved while being, essentially, one evil a-hole in real life. the media created his image that still lasts for normal people to this day. LBJ is seen as a huge a-hole while having his entire life on display from 17 onward, and he hasn't really been involved in anything to get that image

Yeah except the whole fiasco that was the decision special

I still laugh at the fact people claim all their hated someone from when he made the switch to Miami.
He didn't truly force a trade like CP3. He just played out his contract and left. He then had one event where he got the whole media process about his decision of leaving over with in like 30 - 60 min instead of drawing out the process in a giant media story the whole offseason. He then used this one event to help his charity. If he didn't have the event he would have still been criticized because these people just want to hate someone.
He has been a team player and played team ball.

It's a funny thing that people are far more affected by marketing than they care to admit. Combine this with the nostalgia effect, and you have a colossus of a figure that it is impossible to even compare to any mere mortal. The fact that Jordan fans are offended at the audacity to even make a comparison of similarities lets you know that they are not acting from a place of ration. Argument is useless. You can't use logic and ration to argue a person out of a position that they didn't use to get themselves into.
