I know a lot of people will instantly dismiss Memphis as a destination, but there are several new attractions, restaurants, and hotels that have popped up in the last 2-3 years. There is a more to do here than there used to be.
It is great to go back and see how much it has grown since 5 years ago. One of my favorite places to visit. Go at least twice a year

I'm almost afraid to see that, when I go back. When I lived there, Hacks Cross south of Winchester, was a 2 lane road. Nonconnah Parkway had only opened to Quince.

Crime is still a very real issue, and has actually gotten worse this year. However, between the Grizzlies, Bass Pro, Beale St really booming, Soith Main continuing to grow, the Zoo continuing to improve, St Jude, the growing restaurant scene (which has gotten a lot of coverage on Food Network), and the rebirth of Overton Square, there are also a lot of positive things happening right now.
I just hope that the renewed civic pride from these positives gets people to wake up, get over the apathy and pessimism they has been so prevalent here for so long, and come together. The city and county governments have really been portly run here for a long time, but there are a lot of grassroots movements that are trying to make a difference. I hope they can succeed where the local governments have failed so miserably.
Despite the crime problems in some areas of Memphis, the area around the stadium has been a highly travelled and very safe place for several years. I'm sure the city would go all out to insure such a big event would go over well.
I would LOVE being able to cheer on my Tigers from a good seat at AutoZone, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed.
