I've seen this mentioned multiple times but the articles always say, "this is what Chris Kyle said." I always thought it was some sort of tall tale or satire. I never imagined he actually said it being truthful. Anyone have a link to direct quote or video? I'd love to see it.

What's satirical about saying you killed American citizens from the top of a sports stadium?

What isn't satirical about that? Just because its something that upsets your delicate sensibilities? And I asked for a reputable link, not your butt hurt opinions on it.

I'll wait to opine on this until I see enough bitching from veterans on this issue regardless of where they stand.

As a retired Marine the medals don't bother me. I had to have a purple heart of all things, and a second award Combat Action ribbon added to my DD214 and those are two of the most easily verified awards there are. Military records for the most part are kept by complete retards and SRB's are always messed up. Plus all those combat tours probably made the guy a nut job so I will cut him some slack. His watch is over; let the guy and his family be.

Jury awarded Jesse Ventura 1.8 Mil for the story he made up about punching him out in a bar.

Said he killed 30 people from the top of the Superdome, yeah right.

Said he killed 2 guys trying to carjack him. Yeah right.

Kyle earned one Silver Star and three Bronze Stars with Valor, a record confirmed by Navy officials.

The extra Silver Star and two extra Bronze Stars he claimed were on classified missions and could not officially be entered into his Naval Records.

Sounds good?

It's possible stuff doesn't make your DD214. I Had Some Stuff Missing (Nothing Like A SS though) but didn't feel like arguing with them about arcoms so they didn't make the dd214.

There could also be a possibility that some of the awards were given in the aftermath of missions that are not yet declassified where the public record wouldn't yet show them.

bullshite. That's not how it works. All awards are documented. The circumstances around the award may are may not be classified and the service member is briefed on what can/can not be shared about it.

Most of the major institutions venerated by older generations in this country deserve little or no respect. They have completely dropped the ball. From law enforcement to religion to politics to education. Shitshow on parade and all need to be completely gutted and reformed.

If South Park made an episode about Kyle returning from war and continuing to snipe people, it would be satire. Just like someone suggesting that's what he did. I'm also not saying he did not say it. I'm stating that it sounds like something so far fetched for someone to say that I would rather see the context or actual proof he said it.

This. The classification level of the mission has absolutely nothing to do with that citation being in your OMPF, period end of discussion.

He lied.

Because he's a proved liar, we should be awfully skeptical about Kyle's claim that the U.S. government sent him into New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. They perched him atop the Superdome, he said, and it was from there that he picked off 30 looters in the city.

One of many.

Chris Kyle killed 30 looters?

quote:

Kyle bragged about traveling into New Orleans in the days after Hurricane Katrina with a fellow sniper and shooting at least 30 looters from the roof of the Superdome. There's no evidence anything of the sort ever occurred. And then there's the story Kyle told of how he killed two men who tried to carjack him while he was stopped at a gas station along a rural highway southwest of Dallas. When police arrived to investigate and ran his driver's license, Kyle said, they received a phone number for someone at the Department of Defense. The story ends with the police officers letting Kyle drive away.

Killing looters and carjackers.

I am just reading this thread and this might have been mentioned already, but whether he did it for his country or not, you can't have the mindset of an average joe to do what he did...

Him being pathological would pretty much answer why he would exaggerate his accomplishments. If this is the case.. If he had 10 silver stars, he would have probably claimed he had 22..

IIRC it doesn't work that way. The mission may be classified but the awards are public. They just don't give any details about what it's for. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
