OT Workout Crew: Wood mounted pegs for holding plates

I have a new house and I put my squat rack in the back shed, which has unfinished walls of tongue and groove planks on the outside and just the 2x4 framing exposed on the inside.
Due to the limited room in the shed I would like to hang the plates on the wall, attached to the 2x4s somehow. Rogue makes some short pegs that would work, but they're $43 a piece (which is a topic for another day, because wtf?). Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative? I would prefer shorter pegs. TIA

perfect. I don't know why I didn't think to go with pipe fittings.

A lot more options and ideas from Googling "diy gym" or "diy weight rack" or many other similar terms with "diy". The home gym rat community is pretty huge and knowledgeable.

if you are going to be putting a lot of weight on the wall make sure you put a stringer across multiple 2x4's before you do anything else to help disperse the load.

pipe fitting
all of the weight is on a lever trying to pull a screw out of wood. I would not trust that much weight to that connection

If the pipe is fulled screwed into the plate I would think you would be fine. I would bolt the plate to the board and use washers on the back to keep it from breaking loose.
No way I would run a few screws in and think it would hold. That would be a accident waiting to happen.

you really don't have enough room for this?
