I do a speed test with a direct connect to my laptop and get a 95 download. Then do a test in my den about 30 ft away from the router and get a 15 download speed. What can I do to improve the speed?. There is only one wall between the router and the den.

What's your router like? New router, good specs or cheap or old? That's where I'd start. I replaced routers recently and it made a huge difference

Need router specs. Also, is your device on the 2.4 or 5 channel? 2.4 can reach further but is usually clogged and can't get as high as the 5.

I got a huge increase in range and subsequently speed across the house by getting a Nighthawk.

Have you updated the router's firmware or the laptop's wireless driver recently?

My 2.4 was fully loaded. Changed channels and got better range and faster speeds
