That's pretty bad especially in most these city's and if they have a family. 51k that means your other half is working as well.

51k is pretty low yet it is an improvement from just a couple of years ago when it was around 35k. Hopefully it will move to around 75k soon. I would like to see it get around 100k within the next few years.

Looks like my friend on DC U was making $40K when he came into the league with Chicago Fire, 7 years later he is up to $75K ($85K guaranteed). As a backup that isn't too shabby, however he has no work experience in his college degree field. That will set him back when he hangs them up in a few.

that salary is working for 6 months. they also get free healthcare, transportation and housing subsidies, free clothing, free meals during practice and game days, per diem for road games, postseason bonuses, and endorsement deals.

edit: servicemembers get alot of that too but nowhere near the level of professional athletes.
