So much good food in Dallas that the DDD comment made me laugh. I can't wait to get back.

Yup. He did modify it. Read the title "Best food in Dallas" and was expecting something else.

I shouldn't have put best food. The suggestions I got are what I want. I know some good expensive restaurants. Wanted some that were a little more off the grid and less expensive like suggestions.
Thanks again

FW:
go get a burger at Fred's, the original location on Currie.
Clay Pigeon, Bonnell's and Lonesome Dove for incredible game and beef. Solid wine lists, too.

To be fair, DDD went to Twisted Root (great burgers) and Pecan Lodge (best BBQ in town) so it's not too bad.

Blind Butcher also has amazing poutine

I've been very disappointed in Twisted Root.

Dfw is a really large area, but it sounds like you are willing to drive 90 minutes for a meal

Zappas knows his stuff. I'll add these:
Pints and Quarts for great burgers and dogs. Luscher's Red Hots has the same plus Chicago style Italian beef.
El Come for the best tacos and churros.
Keller's drive in for old school American food.
Monkey King Noodle Co. for asian style noodle bowls and dumplings.
Bubba's cooks country for southern food and a greasy breakfast.
Uncle Uber's and East Hampton Sandwich Co. make great sandwiches.
Jimmy's food store for Italian subs and Muffalletas.
