Great responses in this thread. I appreciate all of them. I've never really planned a big solo trip before and find the task of picking one place as a little overwhelming.

I appreciate the international suggestions. Those all sound awesome.

I spent five days in Denver for work training and was free after 3:30 every day to explore. I loved walking the downtown, taking brewery tours, renting the share bicycles and exploring all over, taking the city tour, etc. The REI store there is amazing.
I didn't get to jump on one of the national park tours or check out a show at Red Rock, but I bet both would be awesome.

I loved getting away from La to the cooler weather and got to meet some cool people.

Just pick a place that interests you and go. Solo travel to a nice destination might just be the most insightful experiences one can have.
