Driving cross country with a 1 year old -- Anybody on here ever done it?

Just curious as to your experiences and any tips you may have.
It'd be a two day drive to a destination in the middle of the country where we'd spend two days, then it's be a two day drive to the west coast where we'd stay two days, then it'd be a two day drive to another destination in the middle of the country where we'd stay 5-6 days, then a two day trip back to the east coast.

Doesn't sound particularly fun, but I don't have a one year old yet. Ask me in a year and 5 months
I'm sure it'd be fine though.

Have a tablet or something they can watch tv/movies on and try to do your driving at night when they are asleep if you can.

What if the wife loves driving and is very easy going?

This. I've done 8+ hours with infants before, and it wasn't any worse than other trips except for the frequent diaper changes. I'd imagine the consecutive days driving will be the most difficult part.
