This law was slipped into effect with the state sales tax increase. You will now pay state sales tax- and n colleges, universities and even your kids events!
If you sell a ticket it will be taxed
Looks like it may include concessions as well

JBE, what a guy! Take money from the people so he can redistribute, just like a Democrat, thinks he can spend my money better than I can...I know belongs on pol Board, but this guy will tax Tiger Stadium bathrooms if he can

Why are people shocked about this? He clearly said he was going to raise taxes.
Guess we just could not vote for a guy who banged hookers.

Honestly, why shouldn't it be? It is an event you are buying, particularly concessions. If you bought it on premium cable TV you'd be paying taxes on it. I know you pay sales tax on shirts and gear sold in the stadium. I'd be surprised if concessions didn't already have tax built in.

What else can he do?
Apparently there is not a single penny that can be cut from our budget.

Can you link the new state law?
Dems are usually very anti-sales tax increases. Not sure how to judge JBE on these issues given the state budget issues. I'm all for huge cuts on entitlements, but that is a long term solution when the state appears to have a huge problem in the short term too.
We need to get rid of the state's tax break on the first 3 years of natural gas extraction.

To those who don't understand sales tax collection. Having a "clean" penny is a good thing. Clean meaning it is collected in transactions without exemption. The problem is the percentage. The state is in a really bad spot so they raised the percentage as well. It's good tax policy to not have thousands of exemptions, but we need to lower the rate. Our state is so far behind over states in terms of overall tax policy. We desperately need to broaden the base and lower the rate across the board...sales, income, property etc.

Hard to believe we have this many liberals posting.
It's hard to follow an ideal that encourages people to not work and takes money from hard working Americans to enable them to do so.
I wouldn't have thought that football programs that encourage young people that working hard pays dividends would have this many fans that support just the opposite.

May have been mentioned but how in the hell are the kids that work in the concession stands going to do this math in their head? Twenty-five cent intervals are hard enough on them, just wait until they have to add 10%.

Concessions is currently paying sales taxes. The tax is built into the prices.
