To answer some of your questions, if you are in Baton Rouge, go to La Homebrew. Tell them you want to start brewing and they will set you up with everything you need.
Also, get the book “How To Brew” by Palmer. Also at La Homebrew and many book stores. It’s the Bible for introductory brewing . Also, designing great beers is another great book, but is more advanced.
La Homebrew also has many recipe kits so you can start there for most anything.
Or, just ask here. Many of us will be glad to share recipes for what they brew.
