Interesting article from fangraphs where they estimate how much tv revenue teams will get in 2016 and shows how long their current deals are locked in for and for how much.

Oakland higher than St. Louis is a bit surprising. I know STL is a relatively small market, but that's a hugely popular team in that market

Not only is our(ATL) tv deal terrible, it is basically locked in until the end of time.

Just signed a new deal. Fairly large market, 4 million plus people. They get good ratings locally as well.

The Baltimore/Washington TV deal is a really long, complicated, nasty story.

These local TV contracts have really increased in the last several years. ARI just signed a deal, so they benefited from the timing. MLB may not get great ratings nationally, but local TV markets are not struggling at all, unless the team is terrible.

I would like to know more details of the LAD deal. Something like 90% of the LA market do not get Dodgers games. Their provider doesn't carry the channel.

I can't read the link, but STL just signed a new agreement starting next year. It was for a pretty outrageous amount. Now that network (Fox Sports Midwest) has basically cut every employee not directly associated with a Cardinals or Blues broadcast.

They used to have these chicks that would do promotional and charity events for them and were featured on the commercials for future live game broadcasts. They cut them right after the new deal was signed. One of them works for CBS Sports now.

All the regional Fox Sports networks had chicks, and almost all of them were fired across the country. These networks exist to air local NBA, NHL or MLB games. They pay a ton of money for those games & nothing else on that channel creates ad revenue because no one watches anything else. FS Midwest wasn't the only regional network to layoff a bunch of employees, they all did.

I was unaware that I somehow implied they were alone in that.

That's the ending of their old deal

Singed a new deal for 1billion over the life of it. starts at 55mil for 1st season then heads to 85milish region.

we all would. we just dont really know too much about the specifics. we dont even know how much ownership the dodgers have in the network. its no longer 90% of the LA market without the network. i think its closer to 60% which is still really bad. there are a lot of rumors about how TWC is losing so much money over this because they obviously have to pay the dodgers what they agreed but they arent generating nearly as much money as they expected. TWC is in a really bad spot
