How was strand using a cellphone? Shouldn't all the power be out thus no cell towers working?
He was using a satellite phone.

So... watched last night... as far as I can tell it was an entire episode with two or three pieces of worthwhile info.
A) They know the entire west coast is fricked.
B) Strand is/was up to something, my guess is he was a drug runner for some Mexican cartel.
C) Strand has a gun.
That's about it.

Just watched the first two episodes of s2 last night.
I enjoyed both episodes for the most part.
I didn't think that the Jonestown dad was believable as someone who was going to off his family. That guy is a good actor, and his acting was fine in the show, but I thought the direction that they took his and his families story-line was odd. I thought that the whole "take my children" thing was stupid, but whatever. I guess that is how it is in the comics? I guess at that point of the ZA, they might have thought that somewhere else was safer than where they were at, which was actually relatively safe.
I think that the characters are fine for the most part, except Madison is so damn naive that its annoying. Travis is finally starting to get it, thank God.
Nick, Strand, and Daniel are really good characters that I enjoy watching on screen. Alicia is a typical dumb teenage girl, and the scene when she makes contact with Jack on the radio would have been totally corny if they had have used a different song than 5 years, which is one of my favorite songs.
I am interested to see where they go from here. The group can easily kick Strand off of his own boat. I too think that Strand was/is connected to the cartel in some way, and he is scheming to get down there to him. We'll see.

I still stand by my adage that I want to see Strand and Daniel kill off the rest of the cast, then spend 5 seasons showing us how they turn into the Negan of the west coast.

The sad thing about this show is that I get on the cusp of liking a character/identifying with a character, and then they go and make some dumb arse decision that totally throws all of the good juju they had going with me.
Can the writers not figure out a way to make this show interesting without forcing the characters into being completely unrelatable?

Besides Madison wanting to recreate Noah's Ark, what other decisions are you referring to?

She has probably made the most reasonable decisions out of the group so far, but she is always overly sympathetic to people outside the group. Let's be honest, Noah's Ark was is a terrible idea.
Travis always has stupid ideas.
Chris is annoyingly broody. In that one scene where he was talking to/fishing with Daniel I thought he was more bearable, but the writers always give him terrible brooding scenes. (Daniel is a badass/killer/whatever)
I am starting to like Nick more now that he isn't high all of the time.
Alicia was pretty much feeding information to an enemy for hours? days? She is very nice to look at though.

I totally agree with you on this. I hate Chris. Everybody does ;)

Same. MUCH more likable as a non-junkie.

Yeahh, that was pretty awful, but I chalked that up to her being a dumb teenage girl. Besides her angsty short-comings, she is actually pretty likable as well.
Does anyone else think she looks like a young Vera Farmiga? Its uncanny.

Just watched epi 3 and thought it was enjoyable. This and the last episode were good.

I dont get what brought down the plane. They had a few people turn in the cabin but why would that interfere with the operation of the cockpit behind locked doors. Cutting the asian chick loose was dumb too. Isn't she a doctor? I'm sure they would have all found that to be useful and what's one more person?

It would have actually been two more people. Her and the dying person.
Cutting her loose was the right call IMO -
They didn't know she was a doctor. She looked crazy as hell. She wasn't going to leave that sick and dying person alone. Sick and dying person would have needed medicine and care that boat couldn't afford to give. No way you take these two on the boat. Not in these times.

I hated E1 & E2 of this season. But thought that last night's was interesting.
I'm guessing the story for the asian female & burned kid is over?

As a doctor she hd to realize he wasn't going to make it. I don't think just her would have been a big deal

So I made it a point to focus last night and try to remember the main character's names. I still only know Strand and Travis.

Definitely agree with this. However get ready for the flurry of downvotes since all this thread is are idiots who hate the show but will continue to watch and bitch about it.
And that was a cold-blooded move by Strand. Can't imagine what's going through that Asian chick's mind right now after she was just saying it can't get any worse than this.
LOL. Correction.

Travis is now the first person on FTWD to notice that walkers do not notice you if you are covered in blood.
