Hey guys. I've got a soft top with some missing teeth. I'm thinking of using some safety pins temporarily until I can either get the zippers replaced or get a new top (whichever is cheaper). Any experience with this?

For you YJ owners, can y’all tell me what light displays under the 4x4 light? I had my gauge cluster out the other night and noticed the bulb was missing.

Funny to see this thread bumped to the top. For the past few days I've been seriously considering jumping back into the jeep world. I've had a couple of CJ7's. I sold the last one a few years ago. But, I finally have a garage, and slightly more disposable income. I love my old F150, but I have a wandering eye whenever a nice CJ passes.

It’s been awhile since I had a YJ but I think it is a low range light.

Per jeep forum there is no bulb spot

Yea that bottom half of the indicator does nothing... Not even a space for a bulb

ETA

you should have read the entire thread before your post

Yup, I literally just posted that.

ETA: I swear there is a bulb spot. I’ll take a picture during lunch and show you.

I just did and the bottom half is blank.

Not sure why there’s a hole there though. Oh well. Now I know.

Probably so you can add a naked girl indicating the light bar is on.

probably a shared part with another vehicle.

You could always just cut out the gauge and use the spot for a more needed gauge

Well, I've gone and done it. I'm officially a jeep guy again. This is my third CJ7. Drove to Florida and picked her up yesterday.

'86 CJ7
Rebuilt 258
Weber Carb
Currie D44, 4.56 gears, with detroit locker
Dana 30, 4.56 gears, with detroit locker
And, wait for it... T5 transmission
4" springs and 2" body lift
35" Cooper tires, like new
Warn 8000
Hi Lift
Full Cage

Supposedly, a couple years ago when he broke the T5, he had it rebuilt with heavy duty parts. He even gave me a receipt that says so. I don't know what you can add to a T5 to help it, but maybe they did. Anyway, when it blows up again, I'll replace it with something stronger.

Otherwise, it's a solid jeep. Frame is good. Body is good. One floor pan has been patched, but that's all I can find. Engine seems strong. It came with a softop, yj hard top, and bikini top, soft doors, and half hard doors - all of which need a little work. I plan to refurbish the hard top for the winter and get a set of full hard doors. I'll probably just use a bikini top and maybe the half hard doors in the warmer months.

Anyway, here she is on the drive home:
