They were a very good class B school but we beat them in 2007 state championship game and think they have been 2a since 08 but not positive of that

Honestly in baseball this is irrelevant because anyone that's good enough for an LSU offer, plays for a big tournament team. They've been to showcases against the best of the best in the nation.

He's a really great shooter, has some hops, and was class B MVP two years in a row while leading Anacoco to two state titles. However, he is better in baseball. IMO, he'd be more suited to the Southland than SEC in basketball, but he's a natural in baseball and has a higher ceiling in that sport. He can pitch, but has range and footwork as an infielder that he didn't have to be taught.
So, he will probably be a pitcher

Yes sir you are correct he does play in Class B but anyone with eyes can see this kid has game. Brandon Sampson play in class B and Class A and Jerrell Martin played in B so what is the problem.

I like his Basketball highlights.

Kyle Hornsby played at Anacoco highs school and later went on to play for legendary coach Bobby Knight

class B doesn't say anything about the player, only his competition
btw for those who don't know, it's the same size as 1A

Not exactly the same size but I see what you are saying. Most 1-a teams are bigger than class B schools. There are a few class b schools with 1 enrollment however.

I don't think it's wise to write a kid off because of school size. Not speaking to you specifically, just in general.

The backbone of LSU's 2001 football recruiting class came from a 1A and two 2A schools.

Class B has some great teams, but they have some that should be playing in their local YMCA. Look at Runnels, didn't they 10 run rule the state championship game a few years ago?
Most people in this thread don't understand this. There are a few teams in both sports that are really good but overal the competition is not good in class B and C. In baseball it doesn't really matter, in basketball it very much does.

1a are basically small school enrollment schools that also play football. As of right now if Anacoco moves up in class it will move to 2a because 2a schools don't have to play football. The cut off for 1a and B are exactly the same this is why you see mainly private schools in 1a

or can use common sense and examine the entire body of work.
To me it's more important to see who the played. Just because a school is 1A, B, or C doesn't mean they only play those same size schools all year round.
I can name plenty of small schools that could hold their own against almost any team in the state.

I like that meaningless term, "hold their own". Easy to say and impossible to prove... why do you think the good small schools are remembered? Bc it's the exception, not the rule to be statewide competitive.

What's funny is that if someone just started a thread about a 6'4" righty we got that sits 90 on the gun and didn't mention where he was from, people would be excited. And a lot of people still are, but there would be no discussion of questioning the talent he's faced.

Agreed, I hate that I even took part in it. The Reese kid is a good kid and Anacoco is a good school that plays up in competition. I am excited to have him join the team. Without a doubt he is a kid who will bust his butt for the Tigers.

Level of competition has knowing to do with talent. 6'4 and putting it in the 90+ is exactly the same measurements no matter what class you play in. Playing at a small school can make you less ready to play day one but it has nothing to do with the talent level. You look at the talent of the individual. A kids stuff doesn't get a bump because he plays at a 5a school. And if you think LSU coaches are deciding whether to offer a kid on how many strike outs he gets in some random class b games they scouted you have no idea how this works.

I agree... that is what I have been saying the whole time...
