Most plants are three years. I do know that BASF has a unique top out structure....they reach top out in 6 months.

If you don't enjoy doing that type of work and won't be good at it, don't do it. It sucks coming behind shitty operators that are there just to collect a paycheck.

At CF in Dville it's 4 years to become a Class 4 operator, but you're constantly being evaluated. If your sup can tell you know what you're doing you can test out early and get top pay
