Nest is in shambles

CEO seems like such a prick.
Start flapping your guns Tony when you release more than just a single overpriced thermostat in 5 years with 1200 employees and an unlimited budget.

And lol after 5 years of people asking them to put the current temp in the middle of the thermostat screen they still haven't.

According to Albergotti, more than half of the 100 Dropcam employees Nest hired when it acquired the company two years ago have left. In this kind of situation, most CEOs would be diplomatic. Not Fadell. "A lot of the employees were not as good as we hoped," Fadell told Albergotti in an interview.
Fadell's comments infuriated Greg Duffy, a Dropcam co-founder who left Nest in 2015. In a scathing Medium post, he argued that half his team had left Nest because "they felt their ability to build great products being totally crushed."
"All of us have worked at big companies before, where it is harder to move fast," Duffy wrote. "But this is something different, as evidenced by the continued lack of output from the currently 1200-person team and its virtually unlimited budget."

Their number one request by their users is an outside camera. They continue to ignore it.

Number 2 is to put the current freaking temp on screen, not the set-to with the current temp hidden in the corner.
Stupidest ui decision ever doubled down on by Tony by not releasing a 2 second ui tweak despite customers asking for years and years.

Well they do have this now
I like my Protect, I've never been this excited over a smoke/carbon detector in my life.

I can tell at a glance what the temp. I like that screen just the way it is.

I am in a conundrum about what I should do. Moving in 3 weeks and my new house has a Nest on the first floor. 2nd floor has some old junky thermostat. Was considering installing another Nest upstairs. Will that interfere with the other Nest on the app? Should I go with another thermostat like the Sensi?
We have an Echo as well.

L.O.L.
Look at that pic above, bionic eyes.
Since you can read 11pt type across the room there not a problem huh.
The ability to swap that must be some kind of technological oddity incapable of being fixed.
Maybe Tony can ship a nest-lens device you place in front of thermostat to make the screen bigger.

My Nest turns the screen off when I am not standing in front of it. I can see what the temp is on my phone.
I don't really care about the number anyway. I am either comfortable or I am not and I adjust the temp.

My guess is a lot less people ask for that change than you think.
Your hatred of Nest is even more irrational than my hatred of Apple.

Yep. It's crap. I have a pretty much brand new one sitting in the box. Uninstalled it for the Ecobee3. Not even comparable.

Again, the way you set yours should determine how everyone should use theirs?
People who don't have their phone glued to their hands are doing it wrong?

I could say the same about everyone who responded to my comments for YEARS on here to trust Honeywell and not this snake oil salesman and got laughed off the boards.
The hens are coming home to roost.

Google bought the company for over $3 billion and paid Tony and Company big dollars to keep them on to help them scale and expand the Nest Platform. On top of that, they gave them a $500 million dollar budget for 3 years.
This is the final year of their $500 million dollar budget, and they have $340 million dollars in revenue. That's not net, either.
So you're almost done burning through a billion and a half dollars and you're still LOSING over a quarter of a billion dollars a year after you paid over THREE BILLION for it...putting yourself on the hook for at LEAST 4.5 BILLION DOLLARS between the acquisition and the subsequent budget?
Let's not even talk about how much Dropcam cost to acquire. Or the salaries they're paying.
Their churn rate is Chernobyl-esque, even for the Valley.
Fadell is set to make Scott Forstall's departure from Apple look more like he won the Employee of the Month Award.
The biggest tell was that Google's working on an Alexa/Echo Competitor and they won't let Tony's team in on it...I mean...Hello? How much bigger of a vote of no confidence could you give the guy?
Dead Man Walking...and evidently he doesn't even know it yet...

That's a stupid UI. It'd be great if it said current temp in big text, and the small text was what you've got it set to,anf that followed the circle around as you change it.

well sg geaux can like it if he wants but logic states they set that UI up backwards. I had never really noticed it because i dont own a nest. But that's just dumb.
