I agree that would be another hughe distraction.
That's why I tend to think this is only a negotiating tactic by Mile's agent.
Has it been confirmed by a major media outlet?

Uthug has to deal with distractions every game. the kk down the street could turn on the hot sign anytime.

While I agree Bertman needs to go, I agree with this move. Miles has been a good hire so far even though he dropped the ball and LSU is in a bind. If Miles is going to Mich I would make the same deal too, I wouldn't want a Mich HC coaching the Tigers. You have to lookout for your team / School.

I don't usually like this kind of thing...but it does provide the quickest route out of the current coaching uncertainty....
moves LSU from the current reactive state to a much stronger proactive position....
I'm sure Miles is completely distracted anyway...regardless of what Bertman said....
