Guys, I do not post very often and this may seem like a he said she said, but this did happen without a doubt.

Saban contacted former ULM coach Mike Collins who is coaching in Texas. He asked Mike if he would be interested in coaching with him at LSU. A local businessman here in Monroe is good friends with the Collins family. He is the one that told me this. Collins was let go by ULM after some legal issues. Saban then hired him at LSU in 2003.

Saban also contacted a coach from Derek Dooley's staff at Tech.

His conversation could have been purely hypothetical and it may not necessarily mean that it is a done deal, but the conversation did take place.

I am not sure how I feel about Saban coming back, IF he does. I will not worry about that until it happens. The one thing I do know is that I love LSU and whatever the powers that be decide I will still support my TIGERS!

Why would Saban leave for less money?
How would he recruit?
What assisstant would want to work for him?
What HS coach, besides J.T. Curtis, would work with him?
What kind of credibility would he have?

Not a chance Saban returns. LET IT GEAUX, I beg you... Let it geaux

Interesting indeed. Almost believable. Hard to take anything seriously on this board, though.

We need to know your source for the Tech part so we can add it to LSUfan4444's thread.

He has 2 SEC titles and a national title. is on pace for a top 5 class.

He will be able to coach and recruit very well.

Not saying I want him for sure but I like him more than SS.

Legal issues = multiple DWI offenses.

But the guy is a good coach. He led ULM (Northeast LA Univ. at the time) to a Div. 1-AA championship as HC.

However, I don't buy any of what you are saying.

Someone up there in Monroe hunt down Bob Sale. Bobby might know something since Rob is interning over in Alabama.

So naive. And he would take less money because he knows he screwed up by leaving LSU, and is miserable at Alabama.

I am not one of those Saban lovers or haters. I appreciate what he did. I ask all of those questions to myself. The only response I can come up with is "THE IDIOTS IN ALABAMA ARE DRIVING HIM CRAZY...and he misses Candy"

Not that I am buying this, because my info is that not even Les knows(yet) if he is leaving, but Saban's deals have never really been about the money. Money to him has always been a measuring stick. He's past that point now that the NFL is over. He can't spen what we would pay anyway with his lifestyle.

That was his father Pat. And yes it was DWI's. The last time he ran through a house, but said he fell asleep (narcolepsy...SP?) He did get out of it though.
