State never blows teams out in the first game, but it's because State is rarely a 1 or 2 seed.
Interesting fact: Michigan State has only been a 1 seed once since 2001. That's pretty incredible.

It really doesn't speak to shite IMO. You could argue that he's bad at the regular season then if you wanted to. In reality, neither are entirely true.
Fwiw, they have as many first weekend exits as final fours since 2001 as well.
