The issue of Alex Lange

Im not sure if this has been discussed yet. Here is my two cents take it or leave it. Like every phenom we have ever had at LSU. (I have been a fan in the seats since the late 80's) Freshman season is always great. Catches teams off guard because there is no readily available film on the guy. Sophmore season comes around and if your good your films is in every opponents locker room. Book it! I mean you dont have to go far back to see a comparison. Alex Bregman, though not a pitcher had the same issue but overcame it. Freshman season slapped the cover off the ball. Next everyone pitched around him. Its just part of the game. Lange will find another gear and be dominant.

You can't call someone dominant if other people can figure that person out just by watching film. What makes a person dominant is being able to get it done despite people having your films. Lange just has some slight mechanical issues right now. He will be back to his former self in no time

This is patently inaccurate.

Dude let it go.
Why not just sit back, watch, and enjoy the ride...

This has nothing to do with film or the opposing team's preparation. Lange had filthy stuff and was unhittable at times last year. He's walked more people this year and his command is off. He's just in a funk and I'm confident that he and Dunn will correct whatever is wrong.

Lange problem thus far has been control, especially while out of the stretch. Once he fixes that, and he will fix that, he will be back to his dominant self.

I agree Dunn will get him going again

This post is like you are having a conversation with yourself

There are a number of players that have come through that were great as freshmen that didn't drop off and/or got better.

This for sure. Seems like it's fixable. Maybe mechanics.
He's still throwing good stuff.

Well off the top of my head, I can think of both Kevin Gausman and Aaron Nola having better sophomore seasons than freshman seasons.

And I didn't say that there wasn't. All I said was you can't call someone truly dominant if all it takes is a film to figure him out. Hitting coaches and pitchers watch film too. Dominant pitchers are dominant for a reason. They put in work too

Right. I wasn't responding to you. There are numerous players just off the top of my head that didn't drop off significantly, or at all, after "phenom" freshmen years.
Walker, Furniss, Russ Johnson, Mahtook, etc., etc...

So his missing the strike zone because people have film on him now? Nailed it.

It's two shaky starts. His command has been off, but he is still striking out 13 per 9 innings. He will be fine.

nope. not at all

Ahh, alrighty then. And I do agree with you that there are a lot of players that get better. The Sophmore slump does catch its share though
