There is a custom rifle builder out of Montana who builds a long range rifle chambered in one of many of his wildcat rounds, the 300 Raptor. It fires a 200 grain pill at 3,565 Fps and 180 grains at 3650 Fps. Comes with a nightforce scope an all that. About a $5000 rifle. Or, should I stick to mainstream stuff and get a 300 rum, which with the right loads can get a 180 grain out at 3450 Fps
I have a 338 Lapua mag already but I want a 300 magnum cartridge. I have a 300 H&H but that is just a tad hotter than a 30-06. The 300 Raptor is a 338 Khan necked down to 300

Sounds like you need a .50 bmg

Is there a reason you want it or just collecting?

I want to be able to nail an elk or mule deer at long distances. And I do long range target shooting.

You didn't name the gunsmith, so I'm assuming it is Allen Precision Shooting.
If so, according to his website, at this time you'll need to get your gun chambered in 300 RUM as the 300 Raptor is not an option due to brass unavailability.
"Because of issues with the brass manufacturer the 300 and 338 Raptor unavailable for order at this time. IF the brass situation changes in the future I will let it be known to the public but for the time being, sadly, the Raptor wildcats are unavailable for order."
Good luck w/ your project. Sounds like a heck of a powerful and flat shooting round.

Yes is it Kirby Allen. Damn it, that makes it tough. I didn't know he had a 338 raptor though.

Can't find a full chart anywhere for the 300 Raptor but according to Kirby Allen, the builder, it can fire a 200 grain bullet at 3565 Fps or a 180 grain bullet at 3650 Fps
