Best cloud based data storage.

So wife and I have a 7 month old. Needless to say videos and pictures of him have 100% crushed our phones memory. We have iPhones. What's the best option for cloud storage to keep these videos and photos safe? Or should we just purchase a external hard drive to keep them all on?

We have twin 8 month Olds. We have Google Photos, Amazon prime photos, local and external hard drive on router.

$60/year with Amazon gets you unlimited storage.

I'm considering iDrive. $45 a year and you can store from unlimited devices.

Same here (my twins are 6 now), but with an apple time machine drive. I like having redundancy in this case.

Does amazon scan for charges to files or is it a one time upload?

the easiest for you would be iCloud & an Apple Time Machine.

Totally depends on how you plan to use the photos.
If you just want to keep the photos for your personal memories, I use Mediafire and have been happy with them. pbase, flickr, and other choices are around too. There really isn't a huge difference.
If you want to share the pics, Google, Onedrive, Dropbox, and whatever Apple's solution is will help you bore your coworkers to tears.
The best choice for safety is to go with two solution providers, but really one is perfectly sufficient unless the Yellowstone volcano erupts.

The word "best" is a very broad adjective. What all would go into you considering an option to be the "best"? Price? Storage space? Availability? Shareability?
We personally use Amazon Photo for our picture backups because we are already on Prime and it's unlimited. Haven't tried to share those out to anyone but we have it set up to automatically backup our photos to the cloud so we can keep our phones cleared out. Now that only includes photos so videos are limited but we don't video a lot. They do have an unlimited option that is only about $60 a year.
