ATT uverse vs Directv

We are moving to KC in the next month and will be going with ATT for internet service since they have the gigapower available and google fiber isn't available where our house is. Question is do those of you that have uverse like it for TV? We have directv now, but seems we can get more channels with uverse. Just not sure if HD picture is as good.

Check out the tech board. You will probably receive more help over there.

I've had both and I prefer Directv. But Uverse wasn't bad. ATT owns Directv so you should get similar lineups I would guess.

AT&T recently purchased Directv, and Uverse will be phased out (for tv services). So unless you want to buy something that will be phased out shortly, go with Directv.
No more Uverse

Depends on the area. U-Verse was shite in my area. Also, their products are subpar, imo. We always were sending back modems and tv boxes and shite. Sure, the customer service was great, but I was calling them about outages almost every week. They even replaced the wiring in my backyard for free, still hardly worked.

FWIW I have had Directv since 2001 with no major issues. I recently switched to Dish and their new Hopper 3 (records up to 16 programs at once, does 4k, Netflix built in, PIP 4 screen) and love it. Check it out.
I use Dish for TV and Cox for internet.

Switched from Direct to U-Verse over a year and a half ago and not one day has passed that i regret that decision

Just moved to San Antonio. Love having Uverse Have no complaints about the HD picture.
Moved to SA from the greater Kansas City area, actually. Highly recommend asking some of the Mizzou posters on this site what their experiences have been with the service

I live in the KC area. I like Time Warner better than Uverse. With Uverse, there is a cap on how much data you have. I think it's like 250 Mb, which isn't much if you like to stream and/or download anything. I haven't had any problems with Time Warner, and my internet service is pretty reliable.

It sucks that they're phasing out Uverse. It's been the most reliable high speed internet and "cable" TV I've ever had, in TWO different cities. I'm really bummed to hear that.
I briefly went to their fiber offering, which was a bad idea. If you live in an area with buried utility lines it is probably OK, but in an older central city neighborhood with above ground utilities (poles), they didn't take into account how fragile the fiber cable is (it's glass). It got broken by the city's tree trimmer two houses down and because they didn't stock the cable in Austin or have local crews, we were without internet or TV for two weeks.
We went back to the regular Uverse after that, and no problems.

They are nothing but liars. The WORST experience I have ever been a part of hands down.
Direct tv is the choice

So glad I stuck to my guns. AT&T would call trying to strong arm us into swapping from DirecTV to UVerse...TV is under wife's name from our previous residence. Phone and Internet (cable, not Uverse) are under mine...they can't get it past their skulls that we've been married for 18 years.
I was not impressed with the Uverse line ups when they came about. And now Huntsville just got Google Fiber for Internet...might have to swap from Comcast to Google Fiber...cost is cheaper.
