Honestly, if we're that sold on Jaylon Smith's talent... to hell with a rookie year, who cares if he misses maybe 8 games of the year. If he's that good for the next 8-10 years, we should care less. I mean was Peat's rookie year so great we couldn't live without, yes he served a purpose getting good play in needed but i mean jaylon's spot will be filled temporarily if we know he can't be depended on this year.

I mean if we are running a 4-3 defense...between Ellerbe/Tull I think we can manage to get by for a year if it means adding a potential Pro Bowler to the LB unit long term.

We have started far worse.

We know his talent, it's if his knee ever returns to allow him to show case his talent. That was a bad injury and we can't afford to blow a pick on him
