Personally... in comparison to some of the coaches I've dealt with... if my kid could get into an academy like IMG, I'd gladly send him.
Yes these are 4* kids that they're "poaching" - but those 4* kids have already determined that they will be playing college football somewhere, the coaches at their local school may not (most likely can't) be able to help the player grow as much as he could at a location that specializes in growth within a sport.
Parents are already spending big money on personal trainers for these kids for various sports, this is just taking it one step further. I'd gladly allow my son to go to IMG Academy vs trying to match that potential for growth here at the local high school. That said - if he attended one of the schools that has a great coaching staff, great facilities, and the ability to support his growth adequately - I'd recommend him staying (here we have good coaches that I love on a personal level, but again I'd send my boy to IMG in a heartbeat with our situation).
