I had a helper once that was the Captain for Motivatit Seafoods biggest boat. Dude told me he carried a sack of oysters in each hand when he was unloading the boat. He was about 6-4 265 and a legit friggen monster. Best helper I ever had, they weren't moving him up quick enough so he ended up going back on the boat.

He also told me sometimes they would plant oysters and that was done in the summer. They would go to a state lease and dredge oysters all morning run to their lease and shovel them overboard.

His boat was a refrigerated boat, so when they were harvesting, they would go out and dredge in the AM with smaller boats working with them. After they dredged all day for oysters the smaller boats would meet up with the big refrigerator boat and take on their catch. They would sleep fish the next day come in. Apparently you can't stay out overnight with a load of oysters unless they in a cooler.
