Let me say this...

Lamar might not be as much of a pushover as they seem to be because they are a mid-week game. They are much better than you would think and could sneak up and beat us if we go in unprepared.

Lamar Schedule (4-0)

@ Southeast Missouri State - Swept! (2-1, 2-1, 5-2)
@ Arizona - Dominated (13-5)

Starting Lineup (Games)
1 - Stijn van der Meer, SS (4): .250 avg, 4 H, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 SB
2 - Jacoby Middleton, RF (4): .333 avg, 5 H, 3 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K
3 - Jake Nash, 3B (4): .125 avg, 2 H, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, 3 K
4 - Cutter McDowell, DH (4): .400 avg, 6 H, 4 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
5 - Reid Russell, LF (4): .333 avg, 5 H, 3 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
6 - Trey Silvers, 1B (4)
7 - Bryndan Arredondo, C (4): .333 avg, 4 H, 4 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K
8 - Chaneng Varela, 2B (3)
9 - Brendan Satran, CF (4): .308 avg, 4 H, 3 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB

Just wanted to share the information so people don't freak out Wednesday if we struggle on the road. This is a good young team that needs as many games as possible on the road before the SEC starts, we might struggle but that doesn't make us a bad team or not worthy of this high ranking.

Prepare for a good close game tomorrow night.

Lamar beat Arizona?

They were ranked in some poll to start the season.

And I believe Arizona won a series from Rice over the weekend.

Isn't it rather unusual for us to travel out of state for a non-conference game against a weak/non-power 5/non-powerhouse team?

A win tomorrow night will def help us in the long run thanks to Lamar beating AZ. If LSU beats Lamar, our RPI is affected by every win AZ gets in the Pac-12. It is confusing but when a team you beat, beats another team, you get part of the wins of your opponents opponents. lol

I still wish we would schedule some more home and home non-conference series against big name teams like football. Or even neutral site for that matter. But I guess as long as we do well in SEC okay we will be where we need to be

It's Lamar's head coach, Jim Gilligan's, last year. He has been here for 38 years so I think a bunch of big teams like LSU and Arizona agreed to come to Beaumont since it's his last season.
I live here in Beaumont so I'm super pumped about it. Never thought I would watch LSU play a baseball, basketball, or football game here in Beaumont.
I have two buddies on the Lamar team, and they couldn't be more excited about it. Especially after that kicked Arizona's arse last night. Should be fun and I like our chances with Bain on the bump.

Because LSU is in the SEC and it is ranked as the toughest conference in baseball, they don't have to. It actually would be better this season to play an easy schedule until SEC play so that these kids continue to gel and work together.

We are ranked 7th in one poll and we play four teams above us. (Florida, Vandy, A&M, ULL)

LSU is supposed to return to the Minute Maid Classic in the future. Just not every season.

Well we're supposed to play in the Houston College Classic again next year. That was a pretty good warmup for us last year and from all accounts, the players had a blast. I'm hoping we do this more often.

Tomorrow night might damn near be a home game for us attendance wise. They are saying 75% will be LSU fans.
