I don't deny the faults with our developmental system, but that certainly doesn't explain everything. We have produced plenty of players better than Adu.

his physical development (and attitude) did him in

he was very small and very slow. he couldn't play wing b/c he was way too slow to be a threat and he didn't have the physicality to play more inside as a CAM. he can still dribble well and pass well and has moments of brilliance, but he cannot stack up to any real competition b/c of his physical limitations
