Singapore - HGG's trip review

Spent some time here for work, and got out and about. Here are some pics...and yes, it is EXPENSIVE AS frick. YOu can eat local and eat cheap but anything at the hotel is stupid expensive....for a coke and club sandwich was around $30 USD. I stayed at the Mandarin Orietal, which was undoubtedly the highest level of customer service I have ever experienced. They knew my name when I checked in and called me Mr. ******* the entire time, coming and going.
Here are some pics of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It was about 10am and I was a zombie from the flight (from Houston).
View form the first room:
View from the second room....I was upgraded because I had to wait for my first room to be ready. Again, customer service was out of this world. If you look in the distance you'll see dozens of oil tankers waiting their turn to come into the port. Singapore oil/gas is growing faster than it can handle so you arrive with your cargo and can sometimes wait a week until your turn to bring your ship in.
Here are some random pics from walking around the town. They have malls with any expensive store and brand you can ever imagine, and also the shitty locals market...which is where I visited. Food was cheap and the people watching was incredible.
Check out this menu
I may or may not have gone into this place.
Their street food scene is HUGE. Lots of vendors and foods from all over the region are represented well. Skewers are quite popular with the locals because they are plentiful and cheap.
I don't know the name, but it was ground up liver and snout, deep fried with an egg. Super salty but not that bad to eat.
This is a huge pavillion in the CBD that is crazy busy for lunchtime...same thing with foods from all over the region.
Marinaa Bay Sands Hotel is the hotel you've seen and heard about is EVERYTHING you can imagine it to be... just plan fricking awesome. That's all I can say. Rooftop pool 57 floors up, eye candy everywhere. They chare locals up to $100 to get into the casino, but if you are a foreigner and bring your passport there is NO charge. I didn't play but did walk around....nothing too special but I didn't go near the high-stakes salon.
View of the city from the pool
The hotel has nightly water and laser light shows that are mind-blowing....it was stuff I would have expected to see at Disney World.
Clarke Quay (pronounced "Clarke key") is the touristy section of Singapore, but it was packed with what seemed to be locals. Lots of solid food choices and entertainment, live bands that played American music that were pretty damn good actually.
Had me a Korean BBQ meal for the first time, thought it was great!
They designed this hanging garden after Avatar, it was pretty crazy.

Cool photos. You stayed next to where I usually stay (Westin).
No Lau Passat????????????????? C'mon man!
SG is a great country and their Independence Day Festival and the F1 are two things that shouldn't be missed. Glad you had fun

I see my apartment in one of those pics.
I thought Aqua Nova in Clarke Quay closed.
Did you go have any seafood out at the East coast Seafood center?

I was taken to a few places for Chili Crab. Are you referring to the one by Long Beach Seafood? If so, yes we at a few of those places. We also went to a place called No Signboard that was my favorite. I didnt being my phone/camera around as much as I should have, i ate some killer food that I wish I could have posted here.
Aqua Nova may have closed, this was from 2015...that I just never posted here.

what's your method for booking your trips? do you do flights, hotels, rentals, ect through bundles or try to do everything seperately

For work, our admin books flights and hotels. I don't have much of a say but we do fly business/first for all flights over 5 hours.
Sat next row over from Beyoncé on way back from Rio once. She purchased both seats in her row for space/privacy.
She's a beautiful woman.

Lau pa sat is a decent first try at a hawker center, but it is widely agreed upon as basically the McDonalds of that whole scene. Next time, you should try to get out into the neighborhoods and find more local ones.
Little Arabia and Little India both have amazing hawker centers (as well as "regular") restaurants.
The last 2 times I went to Singapore I literally did not have a single "nice" meal - everything was cheap, local and delicious.
Try to stay at the Fullerton next time you go. The breakfast buffet is ridiculous - it has stations for basically every ethnicity you can imagine.

Did the Fullerton first trip, killer hotel and food.
Breakfast buffet at the Mandarin Oriental is a step ahead if you can imagine that!

Holy shite if true! I love the Indian portions of those buffets.
Last time I got chili crab, I went like 30 minutes north up into the middle of some residential neighborhood. It was great.
This last time, I also got to go up to JB in Malaysia and try out a hawker center up there. Fish head soup was amazing.
I don't know if you care about custom clothes, but I have a tailor that I go to every time that makes spectacular shirts for the equivalent of about $60/US.

I have never wanted to travel to Singapore until seeing this thread.
On a related note, if I ever become a hip-hop artist, I plan to call myself "Duck Gizza."
