When will Michigan call Les Miles?

He seems like the obvious choice for Michigan. UM should be careful about giving Lloyd Carr any input in the decision making process.

They need to do it soon so we can continue with our season. He can leave after the bowl. This BS is to much of a distraction, and is hurting our recruiting IMHO.

September 1st....about thirty seconds after Appalachian State's field goal went through the uprights.

I think it happened at Shembechler's funeral. Carr wanted to resign in Jan 07, but was talked out of it.

I don't think they offer him the Mich. job.

Agree,
True Carr wanted out after the '07 Rose Bowl, but speculation is that his health is not good. Had he gone, it was quite likely that Hart, Henne, Long and Manningham go into the NFL draft. That leaves a very empty cupboard and short hiring window for a new coach.
The word is that Bill Martin and Mary Sue Coleman stepped in and asked him to stay another year so that wouldn't happen, especially since a few months later they were trying to sell a $280+ million upgrade to Mich Stadium.
Carr gave in, but made them give two year contracts to each of his assistants as protection for his staff, which I'm sure he feels will be broomed by the new guy.
Carr has no vote in the selection, but is working with them in vetting all candidates. GVSU and CMU have been contacted about Brian Kelly, OSU about Les Miles, Utah and BG about Urban Meyer, etc. This will go on for a while, Mich would be horrified if they made a George O'Leary gaffe. That is why no interviews as yet. They are doing their homework.
Carr also was careful to point out in his press conference that Mich's most successful coaches were not Mich Men (Fielding Yost - KS, Fritz Crisler - OH Wesleyn, and Bo - Miami of OH). I think that being a Mich Man, especially a Bo guy will work against Miles at this time. The program needs a new direction, not another caretaker of the Schembechler legacy.

If LSU gets beat in the SECCG then Miles announces on Sunday or Monday that he is leaving, can he get out of town alive?

Miles is not leaving. He doesn't want to.
