I'm jumping in late here, but British TV is almost exclusively what I watch, though more drama than comedy. I definitely second Black Books from about 15 years ago, and of course the classic early 90's Jeeves and Wooster - a Wodehouse turn of phrase never loses the appeal.
As far as casting goes, that's really why I switched to Brit TV. Although I think they only have a pool of actors they rotate through everything, but performances are always top notch. Most of American TV just seems...plastic and photoshopped. The Brits mostly leave them to look like real people.
Anyway, my 2 cents. Enjoy the show.
