Obviously gonna hit the main attractions but anything that isn't talked about much that y'all could give me some tips on? I'll be in DC today and tomorrow then to NYC till Wednesday. I'm staying in the Georgetown area if that makes a difference. Any hole in the wall places to eat? Bars? I think today were hitting all the monuments and stuff, White House, spy museum and Smithsonian air and space museum. Tomorrow I think all that is planned is Arlington. Thanks guys.

not sure what you want to see/do in NYC, or if you've ever been there before, but you really should see a Broadway show. I recommend Phantom of the Opera or Wicked (tickets for Wicked might be hard to get last minute but you can walk up to the window 1 hr before show time and some seats reserved for family and friends of the cast are freed up then)
The 9/11 museum is worth seeing--lines can be long though.
The Metropolitan Museum is incredible...you could spend several days just in that one museum but it's worth a stroll even if you have limited time. It also gets you out of the Times Square area and into a really pretty part of the city...walk around and enjoy the architecture.
The view from the "Top of the Rock" building is worth the cost.
Where are you staying in NYC?
St. Patrick's Cathedral is worth seeing.

Go get some oysters at Sea Catch and if you are looking for a good steak Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons is solid. Both are in Georgetown.
Do yourself a favor and hit The Price of Freedom potion of the American History museum.
Hit the Holocaust museum if you have time.

You really don't have time to do everything worthwhile unfortunately. There should be a stickied thread on this topic.
Of course, you'll hit the Smithsonian and everything on the Mall, and that's a fine thing to do. Here are other options if you had a couple of weeks more, in no particular order. But they're all worth a visit.
National Cathedral, Spy Museum, Newseum, Roosevelt Memorial, Udvar-Hazy (near Dulles), Marine Corps Museum (in Quantico), Baltimore Aquarium (in Baltimore, duh, but it's worth the trip), National Zoo. Plus everything else I didn't think of just now.

Numero 28 is my favorite pizza place in NYC and not touristy at all. Would try getting a reservation at the West Village location if you can.
Upstate in the east village is the best oyster restaurant I've been to. Go for happy hour between 5 and 7(have to be there before 5 to get a seat).
Check out McSorley's, its the oldest bar in NYC. Abe Lincoln drank there.

Use public transportation in DC.

If you're into the Air and Space stuff and have a car, I definitely recommend the Udvar-Hazy museum out by Dulles airport. It's a hike, but is about 4 times the size of the one downtown. They have a space shuttle, the Enola Gay, and a Concorde, all inside away from the weather. It's the tits

Have a burger and fries at Good Stuff Eatery today. 3291 Wisconsin Ave, NW in Georgetown. Thank me later.
Bundle up. It's brutally cold out there today with the wind. I'm heading out to the Italian market in DC in a few.

DC is a bunch of thugs hanging out in taxpayer funded buildings. The rest is ghetto. The smithsonian is the only thing worth spending time on.
