If your best player (by far) shows up overweight to camp it's a huge sign that there is no true leadership coming from the actual team.

yeah, a guy like Harden needs to be around Team USA every summer.

He's supposed to be the leader.
But he has no heart whatsoever.

The Houston Rockets have started contacting teams about trading eight-time All-Star Dwight Howard, league sources told The Vertical.
Howard, 30, plans to exercise an opt-out in his contract this summer to become an unrestricted free agent, and uncertainty surrounding the commitment both sides are willing to make has pushed Houston general manager Daryl Morey toward seeking potential trades on the market, league sources said.

I called the Rockets blowing it up from a mile away....what a joke of a Franchise.
Their General Manager is a statistics geek, doesn't know a lick about basketball.

Who needs a center who is in the championship hunt? Toronto?
I don't know anything about their roster.
Maybe Boston? They have a ton of assets, but they don't want to give much up for a rent-a-player.

They played a dangerous game by openly treating people like assets. You end up with a star player who's not interested in winning as much as he is in partying and a bunch of guys who don't like each other.
I like making fun of Dwight but he's usually the only one out there trying hard. The Rockets are painful to watch.

His problem is he is too laid back and only puts forth max effort when he gets called out and/or has a chip on his shoulder and feels he has something to prove. Life has been too easy for him lately last season he answered all of his critics. He's not really self motivated. That's why you gotta expect him to turn it on big time as the playoffs approach.

They probably have 3 losing seasons in your lifetime. They are one of a handful of franchises to have multiple titles in your lifetime. Truth be told HOU are one of the best NBA franchises.

Boston could sign him to a max contract this summer if they would want to go that way. I don't think I'd want to max out a 30 year old center with back problems though.

Houston just has that pedigree, like a blue blood college football program.
Because that's how pro sports work.

Yea like trading Marcus Morris to Phoenix when you had better deals on the table so that he could unite with his brother. The treating players like assets line is one I hadn't heard in a while it's always been BS.

I'd do the Whiteside trade today

frick no Boston doesn't want Dwight Howard long term
ETA: Dwight Howard 5 years ago would be PERFECT for this Boston team.

Neither does Dell Demps he said Omer Asik was a top 4 center in the NBA if you don't remember. That geek Morey sure did get a RD1 pick out of him for Asik though.

salary wise, I dont think thats possible
I could be wrong though

You can dismiss it as much as you want but Houston cultivated a culture that is going to be a deterrent to winning big.

besides the money not matching, Whiteside is a bigger cancer than Dwight.

In the playoffs, they would see that Dwight. He clearly isn't healthy enough to really bang around every night. But he has been able to do it in the playoffs for us.
Dwight isn't the problem in Houston. I don't even think he was the problem in LA. His injuries and Kobe were. Small small sample size that people like to blame him for.

Bringing the Pelicans into this thread unprovoked.
