The more i read into Dennis Allen's stats since taking over as Defensive Coordinator and what his role was while Rob was in charge, the more I'm buying into him. Before taking over, he was in charge of third down defense, which the Saints ranked 6th. Since taking over he 3-3 and went back to fundamentals. The numbers weren't the prettiest but he took over a mess of defense. A full offseason with him controlling the defense, i believe, will allow Allen to get the players he wants and develop the players he has into his scheme and bring the defense into the top 15 overall. Maybe i'm drinking the koolaid but i like to think i'm not

I honestly like him as well. A lot of people overlook the actual defensive roster and just think a coach can do it all. I liked what I saw from him and am more than willing to see what he can do this year.

For the umpteenth time, this is Jeff Ireland job. Not Dennis Allen. And he's already doing a great job.

Game plan? Great.

I'm glad Ryan is gone, but i really was hoping we'd bring in fresh blood and let him pick his own staff.

We got another member of Paytons crossfit mafia. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I'm optimistic too, but this whole conversation feels eerily familiar

Like your optimism.

Me? I will wait and see as I think its one of two things:

We have as most teams do fairly good players and athletes who are not as bad as our stats show. We just need a better scheme that simplifies and lets the players react and play instead of thinking to much and playing slow.

or

We are so dreadfully weak up and down the roster on the defensive side of the ball that God himself could hardly improve it without first getting better players.

I hope so, but I don't have a clue. No expectations. Hopefully we can at least get some talent in the draft is where I'm at.

Sometimes its more than the coordinator. You have to have the horses and we dont have them yet. We took big steps towards that in last year's draft and hopefully we continue that trend with going defense first in the next few drafts.

I'm ok with Allen as long as he doesn't run zones against Atlanta, leaving a special team LB to cover Julio Jones.

Will reevaluate after mid-point of next season...
